It has been over a decade since our national hockey team, that had once ruled the world, made it to the final of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup held annually in Malaysia. The team played superbly against Japan in the final match but came second. The goal that decided the fate of the final took place in extra time and the victory could have gone to either team. I for one consider the Pakistan hockey team to be the co-champions of the tournament. The team-mates and their coaches deserve the highest civil awards for their valiant performance.
