PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday issued a notice to the provincial government for registering the first information report (FIR) against a lawmaker under the anti-terrorism law.

Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Shakeel Ahmad heard the petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Malik Tariq Awan.

Danial Asad Chamkani Advocate appeared for the petitioner.

The lawyer told the court that Malik Tariq Awan was an MPA of the PMLN and had a dispute with a member of the National Assembly belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Asif Khan.

He said the FIR was registered against the MPA at the Faqirabad Police Station under the anti-terrorism law.

The lawyer said the incident involving the MPA and the MNA took place due to some misunderstanding, requesting the court to order the police to remove the anti-terrorism sections of the law from the FIR. The court issued a notice to the advocate general and adjourned the hearing.
