Commissioner orders proper implementation of CM’s good governance programme
Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Aamir Khattak, has directed all deputy commissioners to ensure the proper implementation of good governance programme as per the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. The programme aims to ensure merit-based decision-making and punishment processes to provide maximum relief to the general public.
During a high-level meeting of the Divisional Coordination Committee, chaired by Commissioner Rawalpindi Aamir Khattak, it was ordered that all officers should keep their offices open to the general public. The Punjab chief minister has also directed all government officers to prioritise resolving public issues, failing which strict action will be taken.
The commissioner has warned officers to respect the general public and resolve their genuine issues only on merit basis. He also instructed all deputy commissioners to visit District Headquarters Hospital and assistant commissioners at Tehsil Headquarters at least once a week to review the facilities provided to patients. Additionally, the education system will be monitored to improve teacher attendance, missing facilities, and student enrolment.
Furthermore, the commissioner has directed a special campaign against hoarders and warned that within the next three days, the Municipal Corporation will fully activate street lights across the city. The Punjab Revenue Authority's action against tax defaulters also continues, as a manpower recruitment agency was sealed by the PRA Rawalpindi Commissionerate for not paying tax of more than Rs3.3 million.
Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Rawalpindi office issued recovery notices to the manpower recruitment agents and tried to collect the money. Despite issuing several notices, the tax has not been deposited. The concerned department recovered Rs2.5 million tax. The recruitment agency has been sealed in the presence of the enforcement officer for non-payment of tax.
