Islamabad:The construction of a jail in Islamabad was suspended for the last 13 years, but Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has now set a goal to complete the project within six months.

The minister recently visited the under-construction jail site in Sector-H of Islamabad to inspect the progress and directed the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police to provide regular progress updates.

Naqvi said that delaying the project beyond the 13-year mark is unacceptable stressed the need to complete the first phase of construction within the set timeline and urged for round-the-clock work to ensure timely completion of the facility.

Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, provided a briefing on the project, which was initiated in 2011 but faced delays over the years for different reasons including financial issues. The minister also directed the immediate appointment of essential personnel and the provision of necessary resources for the project.

Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Islamabad Police Inspector General, contractors, consultants, and other relevant officials were present during the briefing session and site visit conducted by Minister Naqvi.
