Niazi aims to do well in England, Ireland
LAHORE: Claiming that he is fit again, Pakistan’s middle order batsman Irfan Khan Niazi, who missed the last two games against New Zealand due to fitness issues, aims to deliver in the forthcoming assignments in Ireland and England.
“As a player you cannot satisfy with your performance and always you want to deliver well. And my aim is to forget what I dd in the past and focus on the onward assignments and deliver there,” Irfan told a group of reporters here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
Irfan said that he is fit and will soon complete remaining drills in rehab. Told that some players are unable to carry their leagues momentum into T20Is, Irfan said in the leagues there is no more pressure.
“When you play for your country it also contains excitement as it is a moment of pride for you. You make best effort there and it also happens sometimes that you make mistakes and when make your best effort for your country it becomes a bit more important,” he said.
“In T20 it is a bit difficult to adjust as you have very little time at your disposal and you have to shift the gears and so it’s challenging,” said Irfan. He said that he aims to improve his strike rate. “It’s my aim to improve my strike rate,” he said.
“All players cannot click at the same time. Sometimes top order and sometimes middle order clicks. It’s a team game and everyone tries to click and it also benefits the team. On a day if someone does not click then there is no issue as it happens in cricket,” he said.
Asked how Kukul camp was different from normal camps, Irfan said that he topped there in fitness. “We are players and our muscles are used. Although in Kakul there is a different type of training we have enough stamina to compete there and almost all players competed there,” he said.
