Governor, Kyrgyz envoy discuss trade, education

LAHORE: Honorary Consul of Kyrgyzstan Mehr Kashif Younis called on Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman at Governor’s House on Tuesday.

The issues of mutual interest and promotion of bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and education were discussed in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab governor expressed hoped that Mehr Kashif would play an active role in promoting relations between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan in trade, education and other fields.

He said that Pakistan attaches great importance to the relations with Kyrgyzstan. He said that people-to-people contact is very important in promoting bilateral cooperation. There are vast opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, agriculture and technology. He said that there should be exchanges of delegations between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan in the field of higher education. Mehr Kashif expressed his commitment to leveraging his new role to bolster bilateral trade and economic ties. He said that the Pak-Kyrgyzstan Investment Conference was scheduled to be held in Lahore next month to promote trade between two countries.

Meanwhile, Punjab Governor in his message on May Day said that the whole world, including Pakistan, is celebrating International Labourers' Day in commemoration of the workers who laid down their lives to get their rights in Chicago.

He said that the labourers have key role in the economic development of the country. He said that our religion acknowledges the dignity of the labourer and the industrialists should ensure the welfare and safety of workers.
