PESHAWAR: The annual election for the Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) is being held today (Saturday). All the arrangements have been made to hold the election.
Two contenders, including Amin-ur-Rahman Yousafzai and Fida Gul, are in the run for the slot of the president. Mian Asif Aman and Shaukat Ali are vying for the slot of the vice-president of the association. Amjad Tanoli, Alam Khan and Javed Ali are in the run for the position of joint secretary. A tough competition is expected among the candidates. The candidates have also set up election camps.
Over 3,000 lawyers are going to cast their votes in the election for the PHCBA in Peshawar. Mahwish Ashfaq and Mohammad Ishtiaq from Peshawar, Marjan Ali from Charsadda, Mohammad Mudassir from Kohat, Mohammad Akhtar Hoti from Mardan, Tanveer Shahzad from Swabi, Syed Gul Hassan from Hangu, Gul Bashir from Mohmand have been elected unopposed as members of the executive committee of the association. Around 1392 lawyers in Abbottabad, 551 in Bannu, 562 in Dera Ismail Khan and 1390 in Mingora will cast their ballots in the election.
