LAHORE: Several events were organised by the Punjab University library in connection with World Book and Copyright Day on Friday.
The first event was held where appreciation certificates from the PU Vice Chancellor were distributed among members of Publishers/Book Sellers Liaison Committee and volunteers in recognition of their contribution in PU Book Fair 2024.
The second event included a discussion on two books. The talks were led by Dr Ayesha Akram, Assistant Professor from the Institute of English Studies. Dr Akram led an insightful exploration of Romila Thapar’s seminal work "Voices of Dissent: An Essay", emphasising the role of political dissent in shaping India’s history and societal norms.
Simultaneously, Dr M Naeem, Associate Professor from the Oriental College, led a captivating session on "Afsanay, Dramay, or Novel k Chandd Oraaq" by M Salim-ur-Rehman. He discussed the inclusion of two plays known for their fast-paced action and gripping narratives, as well as the intriguing presence of several pages from an unfinished novel, sparking curiosity among readers.
