Khawar Manika's counsel continued his arguments on Wednesday in a petition filed by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi
ISLAMABAD: The counsel of complainant Khawar Manika continued his arguments on Wednesday in a petition filed by PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi against the sentence in a case of solemnizing a Nikah during the period of Iddat.
The hearing was held in the court of District and Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjamand.
Khawar Manika’s lawyer Rizwan Abbasi started his arguments and said that the statement of Khawar Manika proved that the founder PTI and Bushra Bibi were guilty.
The judge said that such kind of application also filed earlier. At which, Rizwan Abbasi replied that the earlier complaint was withdrawn before the indictment, adding the application withdrawn before the charge frame cannot affect the current application.
He referred to the judgment and said that Section 7 of the Islamic Family Law stated that the period of Iddat is 90 days, if they complete the period of Iddat through medicine, it will not be acceptable.
The statement of cross-examination and 342 was also read before the court, in which the accused said that they got married on January 01, but made it public later.
Manika’s counsel said that there were both ways in the law but the accused did not submit anything in writing. Later, the court adjourned hearing of the case till April 30.
