PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday issued a notice to the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar on a petition challenging the criteria for the Grade-21 post in the varsity.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Shahid Khan heard the petition of Prof Dr Khan Shahzada filed through his lawyer Zia-ur-Rahman Advocate.His lawyer told the bench that the UET Peshawar had invited applications from the professors for promotion to Grade-21. He said that as per the rules and regulations, the professors, who had five-year or move experience could apply for the position. He said his client had three and a half years experience, adding that as per the rules of the Higher Education Commission, three years of experience was required for it. He said that the UET had set the requirement of five-year experience for the position, which was against the relevant rules and regulations. He said that there was a contradiction in the university’s advertisement for the job.
