SI arrested for taking bribe

LAHORE:On the instructions of Director General Anti-Corruption Establishment Sohail Zafar Chatta, anti-corruption operations are being carried out against corrupt elements across Punjab.

In this context, Waseem Nasir, a citizen, submitted an application to the Regional Director of Anti-Corruption Establishment, Lahore Region A that Sub-Inspector Shahdara Town police Manzoor Ahmed allegedly had taken Rs25,000 as bribe from him to do investigation of his case on merit and now he is demanding Rs20,000 more for giving him a favour in a court.

On which Regional Director Anti-Corruption Lahore A Ehsan Munir Bhatti ordered Circle Officer Lahore Region Sohail Ikhlaq to take action against the accused. A team under Circle Officer Lahore Syed Sohail arrested Sub-Inspector Shahdara Town Manzoor Ahmed taking bribe from the citizen. A case has been registered against him.

Man shot dead by relatives

A 34-year-old man was shot dead in the limits of Kahna police on Wednesday. The firing incident took place after a heated argument between the victim and the shooters. The deceased was identified as Mazhar.

Both the shooters and the deceased were relatives. A murder case was registered against Kamran and Zaman. The body was shifted to the morgue.

13-year-old girl rescued from kidnapper

Sherakot Investigation police apprehended a kidnapper and successfully rescued a 13-year-old girl from his possession. The accused, identified as Anwar alias Sunny, had abducted and confined the girl, named Fiza Iman, in an empty house. Fiza was reunited with her family, bringing an end to their ordeal.

Man found dead in canal

A man was found dead in canal near Shah De Khoi on Wednesday. Some passersby spotted the body floating in the canal near Shah Di Khoi and informed the police. Upon receiving the information, the rescuers rushed to the spot and pulled out the body from the canal. It was yet to be ascertained whether the man accidentally fell into the canal or was thrown after being killed.

The body, yet to be identified, was shifted to the morgue. Meanwhile, two men were found dead in different parts of the city on Wednesday.

A 50-year-old man was found dead near Shadman Market. A man, who was found unconscious in North Cantt area, died in the hospital during treatment. The identity of the two men was yet to be ascertained. Edhi volunteers shifted the dead bodies to the mortuary.

Man commits suicide

A 45-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in Nishtar Colony on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Patras Masih, son of Rehmat Masih of Youhunabad, Nishtar Colony. Edhi volunteers shifted the body to the mortuary.
