Commissioner orders GIS mapping of uplift schemes
LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa has directed all departments to carry out GIS mapping of the development schemes going on in their jurisdiction to avoid overlapping of the development works.
The decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Lahore regarding the review of ongoing and proposed development schemes and targets here on Wednesday.
LDA DG Tahir Farooq, DC Lahore Rafia Haider, Director Development Javed Rasheed Chauhan, MD Wasa Ghufran Ahmed, Chief Engineer Israr Saeed, Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain Khan and Chief Engineer TEPA Iqrar Hussain and other relevant officers were present in the meeting.
Commissioner Lahore said that in any case, GIS mapping of the development schemes of all departments will be done so that there will be no overlapping of the development works in any area, and a dashboard for progress review of development schemes will also be made in all areas on which daily updates will be monitored.
He said that the standards of all other interventions including street, drain, signage and boards will be kept the same throughout Lahore.
MCL, LDA, WASA, Local Government and Community Development and Public Health Engineering have made development schemes and schemes profiling has also been completed in this regard.
He further said that all the areas of Lahore city will be divided into 9 zones and work will be done on sewerage, drainage, road and PCC repair and maintenance, patchwork and street light.
Commissioner Lahore said that whether the development schemes are small or big, the quality will be ensured so that repairs and maintenance are needed only after many years. He clarified that all the areas will be cleared according to the deadlines and the pace of work will also be decided accordingly.
Meanwhile, the meeting of Divisional Development Working Committee was also held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Lahore. The scheme of building an e-registry center adjacent to the Egerton Road Old LDA Plaza was approved in the meeting. Along with the floor of the e-registry center equipped with modern e-technology in a corporate style, an e-facility center will also be built on 5,600 square feet, where services related to revenue and tax etc, will be provided.
Commissioner Lahore also approved a revised development scheme and also sought further clarification on the proposed scheme for Syedpur, Jinah Colony, Qazi Town Bastami Road. The Divisional Committee postponed the development scheme of Sheikhupura due to the absence of concerned officer.
