PESHAWAR: The Frontier Foundation Haematology Services arranged camps in various areas of the Swat district to collect blood donations for the children and other patients suffering from thalassemia, haemophilia and other blood-related disorders.
The camps were held in Khwazakhela Bazar, Kabal Bazar, Kuza Bandai, Government Higher Secondary School, Kokarai, and other areas, said a press release here on Wednesday.A number of students and people of the respective areas visited the camps and donated dozens of bags of blood for the children and patients suffering from thalassemia, haemophilia and other blood-related disorders.
Frontier Foundation Public Relations Officer Ijaz Alam, Nauman Khan, medical technician Saddam Khan, Assistant Suleman Khan and other staff members of the Frontier Foundation were also present at the camps.
Principal of the school Akhtar Ali, and elders of the area, including Jan Alam, Sartez Khan, Syed Ali Shah Zargar and others extended help in arranging camps and collection of blood donations.
Frontier Foundation chairman Sahibzada Muhammad Haleem thanked the students and people for blood donations and said that his foundation would continue to provide better treatment to thalassemia and other patients.
He said that their organisation was holding workshops, walks, seminars and conferences but there was no specific programme or movement at government level to create awareness regarding the blood-related diseases.He said that the genetic diseases like thalassemia, haemophilia and other blood-related disorders were spreading fast owing to the lack of awareness among the people.
