IHC wants prompt action on Bushra’s jail transfer plea

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC), while seeking written arguments from the lawyers of Bushra Bibi on her petition regarding her transfer from Bani Gala to Adiala jail, remarked that the court does not want any further delay in the case.

The hearing was adjourned until next week.The petition filed by Bushra Bibi requesting the court to transfer her from Bani Gala to Adiala Jail was heard by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb on Monday. Usman Riaz Gul and Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry appeared as the counsel for Bushra Bibi.

The state counsel said, “We are considering the establishment of a sub-jail. We are examining if anything is illegal.” Justice Miangul Hassan remarked, “How can the chief commissioner declare himself the provincial government? You have kept her in solitary confinement. This is a form of torture.”The court noted, “One writ and six miscellaneous petitions have been filed in this case.”

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, addressing the state counsel, said, “You have no grounds.”The court inquired from the counsel if they also wished to transfer Bushra Bibi from Bani Gala to Adiala jail. Counsel Usman Riaz Gul confirmed, saying, “Yes, we want to transfer Bushra Bibi from Bani Gala to Adiala jail. “The court, while summoning written arguments from Bushra Bibi’s lawyers at the next hearing, remarked that they do not want any further delay in the case.
