ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has appointed Senator Sherry Rehman as the parliamentary leader of the PPP in the Senate.
Senator Sherry Rehman had previously served in the Senate as the first female opposition leader in the upper house of parliament.
This marks her second term as the parliamentary leader of the PPP in the Senate, as she had previously held the position in the party’s previous tenure. She relinquished the position when former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani was elected a Senator from 2021-2024.
Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani congratulated Senator Sherry Rehman on her appointment as the parliamentary leader of the PPP.
He expressed hope that Senator Sherry Rehman would continue to play a significant role in the legislative process of the upper house of parliament.
The Senate chairman emphasised that the Senate is a crucial platform for policymaking on national issues, and Senator Sherry Rehman’s expertise will be instrumental in addressing public concerns.
