An elderly woman associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) was robbed on Sunday near Eidgah in the Nazimabad area.

A motorcycle rider snatched a purse from Shahina Sohail. CCTV footage of the incident showed the sudden attack by the assailant shocked the woman who became unconscious.

The assailant surveyed the alley first as seen in the footage. As soon as she reached near her house, the assailant pounced on her. The footage shows the woman collapsing to the ground as the assailant snatches her bag.

The robber fled after snatching the bag. People in the alley lifted the unconscious woman and took her to a hospital. The central committee of the MQM-P condemned the ruthless incident of robbing and assaulting the elderly woman and member of the MQM-P's women wing.

The MQM-P stated that just a few months ago, another member of its women's wing, Rukhsana, was killed in a robbery bid in Liaquatabad. The party lamented that dacoits were openly committing crimes in the city, and even elderly women were not safe from them.

The Sindh government, police and law enforcement agencies had completely failed to provide security to the citizens, the MQM-P said, adding that the citizens of Karachi awaited action from the government for their safety.
