13,000 cops to provide security to Eid congregations
The Karachi police have finalised a comprehensive security plan for the Eidul Fitr congregations. They would deploy around 13,000 cops at different locations as part of that plan.
Officials said that according to the security plan, there are 3,600 places in the city where mosques have been established, and to secure them they have a deployment of 10,000 policemen, who would guard the Eid congregations.
Moreover, there are also 235 Imambargahs where the Eid prayers will be offered, for which the police have deployed 2,177 cops to guard them, they added.
They said that apart from the mosques and Imambargahs, the Eid prayers would also be offered in 344 grounds and other open spaces, adding that according to the security plan of the police, 938 cops have been deployed for such spots.
Karachi police chief Imran Yaqoob Minhas ordered that all the Karachi Range DIGs ensure that their respective district SSPs, SPs, SDPOs and SHOs not only make security measures foolproof on Eid but also to ensure measures like patrols, snap checking, and putting up blockades and carrying out searches at entry and exit points.
Addl IGP Minhas said that the security of mosques and Imambargahs should be solid and integrated at police station level. He ordered that all the mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs and other open spaces be swept for clearance before the Eid prayers.
He said that parking of vehicles should be kept away from the mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs and other open spaces, while collecting and sharing intelligence should be coordinated and effective at all levels.
He also said that the security of all the recreational places, and sensitive places and installations in the city should be ensured at all levels.
The city police chief said SHOs should be obliged to check area patrolling and security deployment at duty points from time to time. No negligence should be done in the basic duties such as the protection of the lives and properties of the people, he warned.
