PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to change the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and it will be done after the appointment of new chief secretary.
According to sources, three names will be sent to the federal government for the appointment of new IG.
They says PTI’s top leadership and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur want the IG replaced as the PTI provincial leadership is unhappy with the police action against the party workers.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif told Geo News the appointment of chief secretary and IG is the discretion of chief minister. He said the dispute with the federal government over the appointment of chief secretary persists and appointment is awaited. He said a new IG will be appointed in the province in the second phase.
