The 22nd Amendment
By our correspondents

For how long will we keep living in a state of denial? What has the Punjab government to say about the parallel justice system set up by JuD in the heart of the provincial capital – the so-called Darul Qaza Sharia or Shariat Courts? There is no doubt that our justice system is corrupt, inefficient and generally distrusted by people.
Does it mean that we accept a parallel justice system? This is a wakeup call for the state to clear the mess by bringing about judicial reforms to ensure that justice is delivered regardless of who can and cannot pay for it. Otherwise, the government should ask JuD legal experts to help draft another constitutional amendment – the 22nd Amendment.
