Country moving towards progress, prosperity: CM

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said Pakistan is moving towards progress and prosperity but some political elements are trying to create hurdles in this process for the achievement of their personal interests.
He said Pakistan Muslim League-N government has saved billions of rupees of the nation by maintaining transparency and a high standard in the implementation of development projects.
He said the Punjab government is committed to accountability, honesty, saving and transparency. He said political opponents of the government are trying to stop the process of national development, however, politically conscious people of Pakistan will foil every conspiracy of such elements.
He expressed these views while talking to elected representatives who met him on Wednesday. The CM said that the government has saved public money of billions of rupees by negotiating with the lowest bidders for various projects.
He said that there is no other example of such a benefit to national economy in the history of the country. He said that funds are a trust of the nation and are being spent only on public welfare projects. He said that billions of rupees are being utilised on speedy development of the province and welfare projects for the masses while transparency, high quality and timely completion of uplift projects is being ensured as it is a hallmark of Punjab government.
The CM said that service to the people is the pivot of politics of Pakistan Muslim League-N and it is committed to provision of relief to the masses.
He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, PML-N government has implemented development projects with high standard and transparency and set new examples of merit and transparency.
He said at least 215 billion rupees of the nation have been saved for the first time in the history of the country in energy, transport and infrastructure projects of federal and Punjab government and these resources are being spent on health, education and infrastructure projects. The CM said that present leadership is free from corruption. He said credit goes to PML-N government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for introducing the culture of saving of national resources in the execution of development projects.
He said the government set a shining example by saving of 215 billion rupees through successful negotiations with the lowest bidders for various projects.
Shahbaz Sharif said that those creating anarchy in the country are the enemies of the nation and these are the same elements which caused a huge loss to the national economy through politics of sit ins. He said that people know who is serving them selflessly and who is engaged in negative politics. Those who met the CM included Syed Javed Ali Shah, Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Mehr Muhammad Fayyaz and Shujaat Ahmad Khan.
firefighters: Shahbaz Sharif has said in a message on International Firefighters Day that this day is observed in the memory of those brave firefighters who laid down their lives in saving human lives and property.
He said firefighters perform their responsibilities by risking their lives. He said proper training of firefighters can help in protecting human lives and saving financial losses in the incidents of outbreak of fire. He said firefighters save other’s lives, however, there is a need for following safety measures in protecting high-rise buildings from fire. The CM said the day demands that serious efforts should be made for controlling the incidents of fire. – Handout
