Yaum-e-Ali procession expresses support for Palestinians
The annual procession of Yaum-e-Ali, marking the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA), was held peacefully under strict security measures in the city on Monday.
The main gathering was held at Nishtar Park, where Allama Rehan Hyder Rizvi addressed the people, following which the central procession left the park.
Hujjatul Islam Wal Muslimeen Maulana Muhammad Hussain Raisi led the Zohrain prayers at Imambargah Ali Raza on MA Jinnah Road. The participants of the procession offered the prayers outside.
Then a demonstration was held by the Imamia Students Organisation to express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians, following which the procession proceeded along its designated route to reach Hussainian Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.
The procession was monitored through CCTV cameras. Police and Rangers were deployed for security. Moreover, containers, heavy vehicles and barriers were used to block the streets, lanes and roads leading towards the procession’s route, including Taj Complex and Empress Market.
A large number of containers were placed on MA Jinnah Road, at Numaish and Empress Market, and in their surrounding areas, while the shops located in these areas were also sealed.
The traffic police had already issued an alternative route map for motorists. They were available on roads to guide people. All motorists going from Nazimabad to MA Jinnah Road were diverted from Lasbela Chowk, then towards Nishtar Road, and from there towards Garden.
All traffic going from Liaquatabad to MA Jinnah Road was diverted from Teen Hatti Chowk to Jail Road, then to Martin Road. All these vehicles were allowed to go to the Jail Chowrangi Flyover and pass through Jail Road via Jamshed Road, Dadabhai Noorji Road,
Kashmir Road, and then from Shahrah-e-Quaideen to Sharea Faisal.
Similarly, all traffic going from Stadium Road to MA Jinnah Road were allowed to go through Dadabhai Noorji Road, Kashmir Road and Society Light Signal via Shahrah-e-Quaideen to Sharea Faisal.
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar visited the central procession, accompanied by Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and provincial police chief IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon.
