SLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Vice-President Senator Sherry Rehman said on Saturday a piece of advice, given by former speaker National Assembly and senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to cut relationship with federal government was ‘surprising and worrisome’.
She said in a statement that inciting a provincial chief executive against the federal government was not politics at all. “The directive to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to fight instead of reconciliation is also worrisome and PTI leader should not advise the province to clash with the federation,” she added. She said it was not beneficial for the country and democracy.
Senator Sherry said despite severe differences with former PTI government in centre, the PPP leaders never gave any such advice to the Sindh government. “The Sindh government continued to fulfil its constitutional duty and role during the PTI tenure,” she recalled.
She said there were constitutional mechanisms and forums to present concerns and demands to the federation. “It seems the PTI has not yet learnt from its past mistakes,” she added.
