Cop injured as two robbers killed in encounter
The District East police on Thursday night engaged in a shootout with robbers near the Aladdin Park, which resulted in the deaths of two suspects and arrest of another in an injured state.
District East police chief SSP Farrukh Raza said the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police confronted the suspects during checking near Sunday Bazaar in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 11 when they tried to stop three men on a 125 motorcycle. The suspects, however, opened fire on the police.
As the police returned fire, the three suspects were injured and arrested. A police official, Head Constable Afzal Nisar, son of Abdul Sattar, also sustained bullet injuries in his leg and is currently being treated at Aga Khan University Hospital.
The injured suspects were shifted to a hospital, where two of them were pronounced dead. The identity of the injured and deceased suspects is yet to be ascertained. Police claimed to have seized three pistols, ammunition and the 125 motorcycle from their possession.
