‘Country has strong defence system’

Nuclear and missile programmes have made the country defence system more strong and unbeatable and it can only be possible through hard work, devotion and patriotism.
These views were expressed by atomic scientist Dr Samar Mubarak Mund in University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore while addressing the participants at a seminar arranged by ASME Society.
According to a press release issued Tuesday, the renowned scientist said successful atomic experiments had been done for Pakistan’s solidarity and challenging the so-called supremacy of the enemy in the region. But in spite of that Pakistan is in strong defensive position and has no intention for any sort of adventurism, he said and described that Pakistani scientists and specifically UET graduates have served a lot in nuclear and missile programmes which shows their extreme patriotism. He said the progress of nations depends on intellectuals who play their role in the development of their country. So youth should equip themselves with new technologies and skills and earn good name for the country in the field of engineering, he added.
On this occasion director, artist and script writer Adeel Hashmi said legends’ following always push on the track of progress. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid said self-reliance is the key to maintain solidarity and autonomy of the country through which prominent and significant status can be attained. He said the nations who believe in hard work get progress and rule the world. He presented a shield to Dr Samar Mubarak.
UVAS: The concluding ceremony of second dairy project of the Agriculture Sector Linkages Programme (ASLP) was held at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) here on Tuesday.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the ceremony and distributed shields among the extension worker while project leaders of the ASLP dairy project Dr David McGill and Dr Hassan Mahmood Warraich and a large number of farmers and extension workers from Punjab and Sindh livestock department were present.
Prof Pasha appreciated achievements of the ASLP dairy project and said it was one of the best extension programmes in Pakistan adding the ASLP extension programme had wonderful results as it had helped to increase production of small dairy farmers. He thanked the Australian government for its continuous support for this programme. He said in future with the collaboration of ASLP and UVAS would launch FM radio and video conference services for providing guidance and facilitation of the farmers in Ravi Campus, Pattoki.
Dr Hassan Mahmood Warraich said in future ASLP programme would be more focused on the profitability of small dairy farmers.
