Earth Day is not only about switching off lights, planting trees, finding alternate sources of energy, but is also about global warming, a phenomenon that will dangerously deplete glaciers – our storehouse of freshwater. And it is also about floods that will inevitably follow for which we are not prepared and which will carry the best part of 30 million acre feet of water to the sea.
If this year’s Earth Day did not make us ponder the pros and cons of what is in the bag for us, then we have wasted it just like power and water resources that are being wasted for the last 20 years, and will continue to be wasted ever after.
