The drainage problems in Hyderabad have been worsening each passing day and the Sindh government should release funds for the development schemes aimed at building a sewerage system in the second largest city of Sindh.

Hyderabad Mayor Muhammad Kashif Shoro stated this on Monday as he called on Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani in Karachi. Shoro called on the provincial minister at his office to greet him on the assumption of the ministerial position in the new Sindh government

He briefed the local government minister on the municipal problems in Hyderabad, particularly the water supply and drainage problems. The meeting discussed the ways and means needed to be adopted to speed up the pace of ongoing development schemes in Hyderabad.

Ghani said that he would soon visit Hyderabad and other towns in the entire province to speed up projects for the resolution of civic issues. He maintained that the Sindh government's top priority was resolving the people's issues and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also issued directives to the Sindh government to speedily resolve water supply and sewerage problems in every district of the province.

Condolences

Ghani also stated on Monday that the terrorists did not have any religious affiliation. He said this while condoling the deaths of 133 concertgoers and the injuries sustained by over 150 people by armed terrorists at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow on last Friday before the start of a musical concert.

On behalf of the Sindh government, Ghani went to the consulate general of the Russian Federation in Karachi to offer condolences over the loss of numerous innocent lives in the deadly terrorist attack in the outskirts of Moscow.

The Sindh local government minister met the Russian consul general and later recorded his remarks in the condolence book kept at the consulate. In his remarks, Ghani said a collective plan should be adopted by the concerned nations across the globe to tackle the issue of terrorism.

He expressed condolences for the bereaved people whose loved ones were killed and those who were injured in the terrorist incident. He also expressed solidarity with the Russian nation after so many innocent Russians lost their lives or were injured in the terrorist attack.

Ghani said the global phenomenon of terrorism should be condemned in the strongest words to highlight the fact that the terrorists were bereft of any religion. He added that it was high time that all concerned global quarters forged unity to adopt a collective strategy to tackle such forms of grave terrorism.

"We sincerely pray for the people who lost their loved ones in this despicable act of terrorism. Our prayers are with you as we fully stand with the Russian Federation with complete solidarity at this difficult time," he said.
