MCI allows exemption on property tax in four categories
Buildings and lands vested in the CDA and MCI are also exempted from payment of property tax
ISLAMABAD: The Municipal Corporation of Islamabad (MCI), while increasing the property tax in different categories, has maintained 100 per cent exemption in four different categories.
According to a notification issued by the MCI, on residential house, flat or apartment belonging to a widow, sons and her unmarried daughters after her death, lands and building occupied by federal or provincial government except for semi government, autonomous bodies, organisations, public private corporations and revenue self-generating properties like public universities have been given 100 per cent exemption from property tax.
Moreover, worship places approved by Auqaf and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) worship places belonging to any sect or religion, buildings and lands vested in the CDA and MCI are also exempted from payment of property tax.
In case of widow, minor son or unmarried daughters after her death, the exemption would be allowed on every current year on presentation of proof.
