ISLAMABAD: The appointment of governors in the four provinces has become the most important task for the government and it has been decided that the process will be completed after Senate elections and probably after the Eidul Fitr.
According to PPP insiders, the party is facing difficulties in finalizing the names of the governors of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as several PPP senior leaders in the both provinces are interested in this post.
According to the sources, in Punjab, the names of Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nadeem Afzal Chan, Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood and Zaka Ashraf are being discussed while in KP, the names of Faisal Karim Kundi, Zahir Shah and Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha are being discussed.
But so far no one’s name is finalized for the post of governor in Punjab and KP. President Asif Ali Zardari will decide the names of governors for Punjab and KP in consultation with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and some friends.
On the delay in finalizing the names, the PPP insiders said Zardari wanted the process of electing the Senate chairman completed without any difficulty. After Senate elections and Eid, he will take a decision in this regard.
