Failure to arrange video link for Imran: ADSJ summons Adiala jail superintendent with technical report

ISLAMABAD: Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Tahir Abbas Sipra issued a show-cause notice to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail for not appearing on the video link of founder PTI and summoned the Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail for the next hearing.
The court directed that the Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail should appear in the next hearing and submit the technical report related to the internet in the court.
Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the bail application of six fake receipts of founder PTI, Bushra Bibi. Adiala Jail authorities said that PTI founder is on trial in Adiala Jail so it is difficult to attend through video link.
But Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra said that why the net is not being fixed, what is problem with it. A show cause notice is again issued to the Superintendent Adiala Jail, the court directed that the Deputy Superintendent Adiala Jail to appear in the court on next hearing with technical report related to the internet.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till March 26.
Meanwhile, Islamabad High Court (IHC) has order Adiala Jail authorities to arrange meeting of lawyers with PTI founder in the jail.
The petition was heard by Justice Arbab Tahir of IHC Wednesday. At the inception of hearing Sher Afzal Marwat, counsel for PTI, told the court they were to meet PTI founder on Wednesday but meeting was not arranged.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir inquired from Additional Superintendent Jail (ASJ) why meeting is not being arranged.
IHC has issued an order with the consent of Jail authorities. “You will have to arrange the meeting till the order of two-member bench is there. Implement court’s order lest we should issue show cause notice,” the court said.
ASJ told the court the meeting of 4 lawyers with PTI founder was arranged as per court’s order.
Counsel Sher Afzal Marwat said as per court’s order meeting is required to be arranged for two days in a week. Jail authorities are not implementing order of this court.
Justice Arbab inquired from the counsel, “you should file contempt of court petition if court’s order is not being implemented. If contempt of court plea is filed we will not run it for month. We will give decision on contempt of court plea within a week.”
He further remarked this is not meant only for the prevailing situation. We will write detailed decision on it. Why the meeting of lawyers was not arranged on Wednesday.
ASJ told the court some security exercises were underway therefore meeting was not arranged.
