ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau sought time from the court on Tuesday to submit a report on the Toshakhana vehicles case.
The case, heard by Islamabad Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana, involves President Asif Ali Zardari, former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif, Yousaf Raza Gilani, and others.
During the court session, the NAB requested an extension to submit the report.
NAB Prosecutor Azhar Maqbool Shah informed the court that Nawaz Sharif had expressed a desire to participate in the investigation.
“Sharif has been investigated. Currently, our investigation officers are unavailable. Based on their findings, we will submit a report on whether the case merits prosecution,” Shah said.
The NAB prosecutor asked the court for additional time until the next hearing to furnish the report.
The court adjourned the case until April 17. It’s noteworthy that the National Accountability Bureau, in its reference filed in the accountability court, had alleged that Yousaf Raza Gilani, PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari (now the country’s president), and PMLN leader Nawaz Sharif were illegally allotted vehicles from Toshakhana.
