TTP militant arrested in CTD raid
The Counter Terrorism Department of the Sindh Police, in coordination with a federal intelligence agency, apprehended Wali Rahman, an alleged terrorist affiliated with the banned organisation Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, on Tuesday.
As per a statement released by the CTD spokesperson, the arrest was made during a raid at Naurus Chowrangi on Manghopir Road, within the jurisdiction of the Site A Section police station.
Upon apprehension, a hand grenade was seized from the suspect. Identified as Waliur Rehman, son of Gul Zaman, he was associated with Commander Azmatullah, also known as the Tariq Group.
The captured suspect, alongside his accomplices, orchestrated an assault on Pakistani Army and FC personnel in South Waziristan in 2004, resulting in the martyrdom of army and FC personnel. In 2006, the suspect targeted the FC fort alongside his associates. Furthermore, in 2007, in collaboration with Commander Ahmed Hassan, alias Safeer, he was involved in the killing of a member of a peace committee.
Having received training from Commander Qari Hussain, the suspect fled to Dubai in 2009 to evade arrest.
