Five suspects arrested in crackdown on street criminals
The Sindh Rangers have claimed to have arrested five suspects during their crackdown on street criminals. Looted items were also allegedly recovered from the suspects, who are believed to have been wanted in several cases.
The spokesman for the paramilitary force said police and Rangers arrested Abdul Rehman (alias Golden), Asif (alias Takhan) and Abdullah from Orangi Town’s Islamia Colony for their involvement in several robberies, along with two 9mm pistols and a motorbike.
According to details, the suspects and their other accomplices snatched two mobile phones and Rs105,000 in cash from people during a robbery at a warehouse in Islamia Colony. The CCTV camera footage of the incident was circulating on social media, and the suspects can be seen fleeing after the robbery.
During the initial interrogation, the suspects admitted to snatching over 25 mobile phones and more than Rs500,000 in 20 plus robbery cases in Qasba Colony, Baloch Colony, Islamia Colony, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Hyderi, North Nazimabad and their surrounding areas.
Abdullah used to facilitate the gang by providing them with arms and ammunition, and buying and selling snatched mobile phones and motorbikes. Raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects’ other accomplices.
Separately, police and Rangers arrested Safdar and Ibrahim in the Siemens Chowrangi area in connection with robberies. A pistol, ammunition and a motorbike were also recovered from them.
According to details, Rangers were carrying out routine snap checking when they signalled the suspects to stop their motorbike, but instead of stopping, the suspects tried to escape. But they were pursued and arrested.
During the initial interrogation, the suspects admitted to being involved in several robberies in the SITE Area. Raids are being conducted to arrest other accomplices of the suspects.
