Four alleged gangsters shot dead by police

The District East police, late on Sunday night, claimed to have gunned down four members of Lyari gang war in the city’s Dalmia area.

Iftikhar Lodhi, New Town’s Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), said an intelligence-driven raid was conducted on a hideout in Dalmia Society, within the Aziz Bhatti police limits.

As a shootout ensued, the police managed to arrest four gangsters in injured condition, while their companions managed to make a getaway. 

The injured suspects were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) where all were pronounced dead on arrival. Their identities were yet to be ascertained, but police officials said a Kalashnikov, two 30-bore pistols, a Repeater rifle, and two hand grenades were found at the hideout.  A case had been registered and investigations were underway.

‘Drug addict’ shot dead 

A drug addict was killed while another got injured after a third addict fired at them following a heated argument, on Sunday, claimed an officer of the Pak Colony police station. 

Twenty-eight-year-old Ataullah died while Taj Mohammed was injured.

They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed where the former succumbed to his injuries.

Police official stated that Ataullah was a resident of Lea Market and had gone to Pak Colony to buy drugs. He apparently entered into an argument with the group of addicts he was doing narcotics with during which one of them opened fire.

Spent bullet casings were collected by police officers as evidence; further investigation are underway.
