Two cops martyred in Peshawar attack

PESHAWAR: At least two policemen were martyred and an officer was injured in attack on a patrolling party in Michni Gate on Monday night.

Spokesman for the Peshawar Police Muhammad Alam confirmed that a police party was patrolling the area on Daag Laara in Michni Gate when armed attackers opened fire on their vehicle.

“Two policemen Ajmal and Siraj were martyred while Assistant Sub- Inspector Mazhar was wounded in the midnight attack,” an official told The News.

He added the wounded officer was taken to the hospital while a search operation was underway in the area. The official said senior police officers along with heavy contingents of police rushed to the spot. He said the nearby areas were being combed and evidence collected from the spot.
