Austrian delegation visits Punjab Assembly, meets secretary

LAHORE:Punjab Assembly Secretary Chaudhry Amir Habib met with the delegation of Austria led by Ambassador Andrea Wicke at the Punjab Assembly Secretariat. The delegation included Venzisalave Wicke, husband of the Austrian ambassador, and Nawabzada Feroz Khan.

The discussion focused on the continuity of democratic system, strengthening of institutions, and parliamentary affairs in Pakistan. Chaudhry Amir Habib briefed Ambassador Andrea Wicke on the Punjab Assembly.

He emphasised the importance of prioritising national interests over personal ones as a nation. He highlighted the role of the Punjab Assembly Secretariat in establishing a strong democratic system in the province.

He stated that personal differences should be set aside for the greater good of the nation and constitution. Amir Habib informed the Austrian ambassador that the Punjab Assembly has reserved seats for minority communities and women.

Ambassador Andrea Wicke expressed her pleasure at the election of Maryam Nawaz as the first female Chief Minister. She stressed the need for Austria and Pakistan to learn from each other's experiences.

Later, Chaudhry Amir Habib presented mementos and gifts to the esteemed guests. He also arranged a tour of the new assembly building for Ambassador Andrea Wicke, who praised it as one of Pakistan's most beautiful buildings.

Also present at the meeting were Advissr to Speaker Khalid Mahmood, Additional Secretary Admin Malik Khalil Ahmad, Additional Secretary Legislation Ali Hasnain Bhalli, Staff Officer to Speaker Imad Hussain Bhalli, and Staff Officer to Deputy Speaker Farooq Zahid Jatoi.

PA speaker felicitates nation on advent of Ramazan

Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan Monday felicitated the nation and the Muslim ummah on the advent of holy month Ramazan. The PA speaker urged everyone to pray for the country’s safety and progress during this sacred month. He prayed to Almighty Allah to protect the country from internal and external challenges.
