Action ordered against professional beggars
A meeting was held at the Karachi Police Office on Wednesday by the police heads regarding action against professional beggars in the city and ordered strict action against them.
The meeting was chaired by the additional IG Karachi, while the DIGs of Karachi Range and the DIG Traffic participated. It was decided in the meeting that strict legal action would be taken against professional beggars begging outside shopping malls, markets, intersections, traffic signals, mosques and Imambargahs during the holy month of Ramazan.
In this regard, the additional IG directed that the Karachi police should take strict and coordinated action against these professional beggars, in which cases would be registered. Leaders of beggar networks will be identified and arrested, and young children and women will be handed over to charitable organizations like Edhi. The traffic police will identify the culprits present in all these cases, while the district police will arrest these beggars.
