KARACHI: Pakistan’s Olympics-bound shooters are being trained by a world class Russian coach in Karachi with the support of Kuwait Shooting Federation.

The camp is part of Asian Shooting Confederation’s development project in which five Pakistani, one Napali, and one Kuwaiti shooter are getting training. “Kuwait has been providing tickets and accommodation to Russia’s world class coach Gemnadi for training Pakistani shooters,” said Javaid Lodhi, Executive Vice President of National Rifle Association of Pakistan.

He added that the coach had participated in the 1992 Olympics and he was part of Russian team in various events. “This camp is a regular process to prepare our shooters for Olympics while the coach has accompanied our shooters in big international events recently,” said Javaid.

Secretary General NRAP Razi Ahmed Khan told this scribe that Pakistan’s Olympic-bound shooters will participate in a few international events in the next six months. He said that the events include ISSF Final Olympic Qualification Championship in Rio de Janeiro from April 11-20; ISSF Final Olympic Qualification Championship in Doha from April 19-29; ISSF World Cup in Baku from May 1-12; and ISSF World Cup in Munich from May 31 to June 8.
