MANSEHRA: Five persons were killed when a passenger car plunged into a ravine in the Torkamar area of Lower Kohistan on Friday.
“Four passengers were killed and one succumbed to injuries on the way to a health facility in Abbottabad,” district head of Rescue 1122 Sajid Ali told reporters.
The car, carrying passengers from Gilgit, was on its way to Islamabad when the driver lost control over steering while negotiating a sharp turn on Karakoram Highway as a result of which it plunged into a ravine.
The Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured and bodies to the Civil Hospital in Pattan where doctors referred one of the seriously injured to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital in Abbottabad where he succumbed to injuries before reaching there.
Sajjad Ali said Ahtsham Khan stated to be a resident of Gilgit, Mohammad Ali of Charsadda, Muhammad Imran of Fateh Jang and two unidentified persons died in the accident.
