The real battle

This refers to the article, ‘The real battle’ (April 28) by Kamila Hyat. Among other things, the writer has held responsible excessive defence spending for starving other sectors of funds for necessary development. At a time when more and more details of massive corruption and greed by our politicians are emerging, the writer’s accusations seem unfortunate.

Bad governance, postponement of the overdue population census and blocking devolution down to the grassroots level hardly show planned development and public welfare to be the government’s priority.
