KARACHI: PPP MNA elect Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig has strongly criticised PTI founder Imran Khan for asking the IMF to link its standby agreement with audit of Election 2024. He said in the past KP minister Taimur Salim Jhagra and Shaukat Tarin had similarly asked IMF to suspend its loan to the country.
Baig said national interests should always be held beyond politics. He was hopeful that Pakistan would get the next trance of IMF SBA USD 1.1bn. He said Pakistan would also successfully negotiate another USD 6bn agreement with IMF critically required to manage the loan pressure and satisfy the donor confidence.
