Sindh’s E&ACE decides to book SBCA officials, BIEK’s two ex-chairmen in cases
According to available documentary evidence, a decision was taken to register a case against the two former KIEK chairmen
The Sindh Enquiries and Anti-Corruption Establishment (E&ACE) has decided to register cases against two former chairmen of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), officers of the Sindh Building Control Authority, Hyderabad Zone, and officers of the District Accounts Office, Jacobabad.
Decisions of lodging of first Information reports against the senior officers were taken during a high-level meeting of the Anti-Corruption Committee-One (ACC-1), headed by Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Fakhar Alam Irfan, over alleged tampering with the examination results by the Inter board officers, facilitating in the construction of illegal high-rise buildings by officers of the SBCA, Hyderabad, and officers of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, and alleged embezzlement of Rs1.24 billion by officers of the District Accounts Office, Jacobabad.
According to available documentary evidence, a decision was taken to register a case against the two former KIEK chairmen, Prof Dr Saeed and Prof Naseem Memon, former controllers Muhammad Anwar ad Zaheer Bhutto, and other officials.
Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar had ordered filing a case against the officials on the recommendation of the Chief Minister Inspection Team (CMIT). It has also been decided to file a case against 12 accused persons, including Additional District Accounts Officer Mazhar Magsi, Accountant Waseem Bhutto, and Sub-Accountant Zulqarnain Shah, in light of the investigation by the high-level committee of the federal and provincial finance departments.
In the meeting, it was decided to hold an open inquiry against the officials of the Sindh Assembly, Secretary Sindh Assembly Ghulam Umar Farooq Buriro, Drawing District Officer (DDO) and Additional Secretary Muhammad Habib Samijo, Munawar Ali Rahoo Assistant Secretary (Admn) and other high officials on the allegations of corruption, illegal recruitment and causing loss to the national treasury by misuse of their official authorities.
Chief Secretary Dr Fakhar e Alam Irfan, Chairman Anti-Corruption Zulfiqar Shah, Director ACE Shahzad Fazal Abbasi, Secretary Finance Kazim Jatoi, Secretary Universities and Boards Noor Ahmed Samon attended the meeting.
