UHE introduces research awards policy
LAHORE:The University of Home Economics (UHE) has introduced a revised research awards policy, extending the eligibility for research awards to administrative officers and employees alongside faculty members.
The decision was made during a Finance and Planning Committee meeting chaired by the UHE Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi. In the meeting, the agenda to include administrative officers, employee in the research awards framework was presented and unanimously approved by all members. This marks the first time that administrative staff will be eligible for research awards.
Prof Dr Faleeha Kazmi outlined the details of the revised policy, stating that administrative officers and employees who publish research papers would receive awards of up to Rs25,000, with the amount varying based on the category of the research journal. Additionally, a maximum annual award of Rs100,000 will be granted for outstanding research paper publications. She emphasised that this initiative aimed to incentivise research among administrative officers holding PhD and MPhil degrees.
PU co-curricular contests begin
Punjab University’s 4-day inter-departmental co-curricular competitions exploded into action under the auspices of PU Directorate of Students Affairs at Al Raazi Hall on Tuesday.
Hundreds of students from different departments are participating in Qira'at, essay writing, poetry, parliamentary debates, bilingual speeches, quiz, Na'at, national songs and English poetry competitions.
PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Director Students Affairs Dr M Ali Kalasra, faculty members and a large number of students were present on this occasion. Addressing the opening ceremony, Dr Khalid Mahmood said that it is necessary to organise co-curricular activities to promote the trend of healthy competition, tolerance and improve students' self-confidence, communication skills and other abilities.
