7th anniversary of Mall Road blast martyrs observed
LAHORE:The seventh Martyrdom Day of the martyrs of Faisal Chowk, Mall Road blast was observed and in this regard, a tribute and prayer ceremony was held at Yadgar-e-Shuhuda at Central Police Office on Tuesday.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar was the chief guest on this occasion. He paid tribute to the brave martyrs who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty on February 13, 2017. DIG Capt (retd) Syed Ahmad Mobeen, SSP Zahid Gondal, ASI M Ameen, Head Constable Ismat ullah, Constables M Aslam, Irfan Mehmood and Nadeem Tanveer were among those who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty. He said that the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while protecting the country are most valuable assets and heroes of the nation.
Meanwhile, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that the martyrs of the Faisal Chowk tragedy will forever live in our hearts. In his message on the anniversary of the Chairing Cross incident, the CCPO said that the police martyrs have sacrificed their today for our tomorrow, adding that the martyrs are the pride of the department. Meanwhile, CCPO chaired a meeting to assess the performance of Civil Lines and Cantt Divisions on Tuesday.
During the session, the CCPO meticulously reviewed the divisions' performance and instructed officers concerned to expedite the resolution of pending matters such as road certificates, cases of electricity theft and ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, IG Punjab met the children of police martyrs at the Central Police Office and distributed junior clerk appointment letters among the children of 23 police martyrs. He said Rs2 crore have been paid in installments to the deserving families of the martyrs for the construction of houses. IG Punjab said that the pension amount for the families of police martyrs has been increased to Rs35,000.
Rs1.1m released for cops’ health welfare
IG Punjab has released another Rs11 lakh for the health welfare of the police force serving in different districts. According to the details, Ghazi Nadeem Shehzad of Lahore Police was given Rs3 lakh for treatment. Lahore Police Ghazi Head Constable Imtiaz Hussain was given Rs2 lakh for medical expenses. Ghazi ASI Amjad Ali and Shahbaz Ashraf were given Rs2 lakh each for medical expenses. Injured Constable Zaheer Abbas and Constable M Asif Ghazi were given Rs1 lakh each for medical expenses.
