Rangers find huge cache of weapons in Azizabad raid

Paramilitary force issues list of 60 suspects under their preventive detention

Rangers found a large quantity of weapons at a house in Azizabad in the wee hours of Tuesday after a political party’s activist, who was arrested earlier, disclosed their location.

A Rangers spokesperson said Mohammad Kashif alias David, a political party’s activist who was arrested earlier for his involvement in target killing cases, revealed during interrogation the location of where the weapons were hidden.

The paramilitary force conducted a raid at a house near Morr Park, Azizabad and found a huge cache of weapons.

They included Kalashnikovs, light machine guns, RPG-7s, rocket launchers, hundreds of bullets and explosive material. Rangers uniforms were also found there.

 

Suspects in custody

Rangers also issued a list of 60 suspects who were in the paramilitary force’s preventive custody.

The spokesperson said anti-terrorism courts had endorsed the 90-day preventive detention and their relatives could meet them after following the jail manual.

They 60 suspects include Mohammad Rafiq (at Central Prison Karachi and under detention till May 25), Mohammed Munawar (at Central Prison Karachi and under detention till May 25), Nouman Malik (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 20), S K Izhar Ahmed (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 20) Mohammad Jawed alias Raja Dhobi (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 27, Zahid alias Joni (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 27), Ghulam Ali (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till July 4), Mohammed Irfan alias Chandu (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till July 4), Raheel Lodhi (at Central Prison Karachi and under detention till July 17), Mohammad Ubaidullah Saddique alias Habib Kala (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till July 19), Syed Ahmed Salman alias SP (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till July 19),  Syed Mohammad Umair Qadri (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till July 19), Mohammad Minhaj Qazi alias Asad (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till May 2), Mohammad Shahnawaz (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till May 22) Mohammad Akhtar alias Baba ((at Central Prison Karachi and under detention till May 28) Syed Danish Hussain Naqvi alias Matha (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 3), Mohammed Hussain alias Asif Faqeera (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 9),  Mohammed Adnan (at Central Prison Karachi and under detention till June 9), Mohammed Faisal alias Patni (at Central Prison Karachi and under detention till June 13), Shahid Iqbal alias Shahid 79 (at Central Prison Karachi and under detention till June 13), Adnan Elahi alias Addu (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 15),  Syed Shahid Pasha (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 20), Asad Ahmed Siddique alias Junaid (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 25),  Sultan Mohammad Zeeshan alias Shani (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 25),  Syed Danish (at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and under detention till June 27), and 35 others both at Sub-Jail Mitha Ram and Central Prison Karachi.
