Three out of four Pakistanis will accept election results: survey

ISLAMABAD: As the country heads into the February 8 general elections with over 128 million eligible voters set to cast the ballot, a survey by the French market research firm, Ipsos, claimed that three out of four Pakistanis are likely to accept the poll results, which will shape the country’s future for the next five years.

The report added that “only 7% [Pakistanis] would not accept the results,” while the proportion likely to accept the election result is 76%.

The remainder falling in between the two extremes of accepting and not accepting the results is 17%.

Meanwhile, the demographic analysis, as per the report, claimed that the acceptability increases with age and rurality. “Islamabadians are least likely to accept the election results,” it stated.

Moreover, the party-wise analysis reveals that PTI voters and non-voters/abstainers are the ones pulling the election result acceptability down. The stage for the national-level elections in the country is all set with the deadline for the political parties to canvass ending on Tuesday night at midnight.
