ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wrote a letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja demanded an urgent actions against illegal police raid on PPP offices in NA-127 in Lahore, from where PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari contesting the election.
In-Charge Central Election Cell PPP Senator Taj Haider through the letter to CEC requested for the removal of the SHOs, DSPs, and SPs involved in the raid, and an inquiry into the directives under which this action was taken.
Through a letter, Senator Taj Haider drew the attention of the CEC towards the raid on the PPP office in NA-127 and stated another illegal police raid on a PPP office in NA-127 Lahore, a call centre established for canvassing and this raid was orchestrated by the PMLN candidate Atta Tarar.
He stated that this incident reflects a blatant disregard for the rule of law and democratic principles and it demands immediate action from the ECP.
Senator Taj Haider stated that the raid was conducted under PMLN candidate Atta Tarar who continues to threaten PPP on television and has admitted the prior attack on PPP offices.
Taj Haider stated that PMLN is using illegal tactics to suppress political parties and interfere with the democratic process. He said it is deeply troubling that police continue to act in collusion with PMLN to unlawfully disrupt election activities of opposing political parties.
Taj Haider, through a letter to CEC, urged the ECP to act against this madness surrounding the illegal raids on the PPP offices. “Specifically, we request the removal of the SHOs, DSPs, and SPs involved in the raid, and an inquiry into the directives under which this action was taken,” he stated.
Additionally, he stated that it is imperative to ascertain why an FIR is not registered in response to the violation of the law before, despite our repeated requests. “We implore the Election Commission to take decisive action,” he stated in the letter to the CEC.
