Arrangements in central control room at Laiquat Bagh reviewed

Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Laiqat Ali Chatha along with RPO Syed Khurram Ali visited the central control room established in Sports Complex, Laiqat Bagh for monitoring the elections of national and provincial assemblies, says a press release.

They examined the working of the control room and reviewed in detail other administrative matters. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema, CPO and other concerned officers were also present there. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Laiqat Ali Chatha said that the election in the constituencies of Rawalpindi district will be monitored through the control room. He said that the purpose of monitoring is to maintain the atmosphere of peace and order at the polling stations and to ensure conduct of free and fair elections.

The focal persons of all concerned departments including the district administration, police, Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122 will be present in the control room 24 hours a day. Timely information regarding any emergency situation through the control room will help in taking immediate action. Commissioner Rawalpindi further said that the officers and personnel of all the concerned departments will perform their duty round the clock at each polling stations to deal with any unforeseen situation.

Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema, while giving a briefing regarding the working of the control room, said that separate desks have been set up for NA and each PPP of Rawalpindi district. Apart from this, a media monitoring cell has also been established in the control room. He further added that the number of registered voters in Rawalpindi district is more than 33 lakh. 2546 polling stations have been set up for general elections across the district for which 1433 buildings have been used. He said that all measures have been taken to make the election transparent and peaceful and implementation of the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission is also being ensured.
