Tall claims by political parties to form govt in KP
Pervez Khattak, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians, claims that he will form the government
PESHAWAR: While all the political parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have asserted they have a significant majority in the upcoming February 8 elections, political analysts believe that parties such as Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Awami National Party, Peoples Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians, Peoples Party Sherpao and Tehreek-e-Insaf will not be able to independently secure a government.
Several political parties in a survey assert victory with a sizeable majority. A considerable number of independent candidates are also participating in the elections. But the province seems to be moving towards the formation of a coalition government.
Pervez Khattak, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians, claims that he will form the government and would be elected chief minister of the province for the second time. Analysts also suggest that the party is considering the inclusion of independent candidates in the coalition.
Haji Abdul Jalil Jan, the spokesperson for Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam in KP, states that based on their hard work, the JUI aims to win around 45 to 55 general seats in the upcoming elections. The JUI has conducted surveys in all the constituencies, expressing the hope of achieving their targeted seats and forming the government in the province. Abdul Wasi, the General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expresses determination for his party’s success in the upcoming general elections, with candidates contesting in every district. He highlights the main competition for 40 to 45 seats across the province, emphasising past victories and strong candidates.
Amjad Khan Afridi, the Information Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is optimistic about the success of party candidates, affirming that the party is fully prepared for the elections.
Ikhtiar Wali Khan, the spokesperson for Pakistan Muslim League-N, acknowledges that the party may not win 100 or 120 seats but expects to become the single largest party in the province, expressing the hope for securing a simple majority and forming the government.
Samar Haroon Bilour, the spokesperson for Awami National Party, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlights the party’s century-old history and a strong election manifesto, expressing confidence that they will secure a majority and form the government.
The outcome of the elections on February 8 will ultimately determine the political landscape and formation of the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
