This letter refers to the news report ‘Ex-PM was king of corruption: Khattak’ (January 19, 2024). For the former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Pervez Khattak to call Imran Khan a king of corruption seems rather hypocritical.
Khattak seems to have conveniently forgotten how close a friend and colleague he was to Imran Khan, until around last year, and how he himself was accused of many crimes and huge corruption scandals.
Despite these accusations, Imran stood by him. In my opinion, Pervez Khattak’s tenure as KP CM was very bad for the province, which was functioning normally before he took the reins. He left KP in a deep deficit and was accused of corruption and other offences. Imran Khan is accused of many crimes and behind bars right now, making him an easy target for opportunists.
