Commissioner reviews progress of establishing e-registry centres

LAHORE:Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa Monday revealed plans to set up state-of-the-art e-registry centres in Raiwind and Shalimar.

He assigned responsibilities to officers for the successful establishment and operation of the new e-registry centres in the provincial capital. In a meeting at his office, the commissioner examined progress of establishing e-registry centres in Lahore. Stressing the collaborative role of these centres with urban communities, Randhawa underlined his commitment to providing relief in accordance with contemporary needs.

The proven success of Punjab's first e-registry model centre has already delivered significant relief to citizens. Randhawa affirmed that the upcoming registration centres would mirror the efficiency of the initial model, embracing a corporate sector approach.

He emphasised a rigorous evaluation of project progress on daily. The commissioner said the e-registry centres would adhere to deadlines, boasting modern facilities for optimal functionality. He highlighted the provision of comprehensive facilities under one roof, catering to regional revenue matters for residents.

Additional Commissioner Abdul Salam Arif, Development Director Javaid Rashid Chohan, ADC Lahore Omar Maqbool, Chief Engineer LDA Israr Saeed, Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain, Deputy Director Hafiz Iqbal and other officers also attended the meeting.

Road repair work monitored

Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Muhammad Shojain Vistro Monday monitored repair and maintenance work being carried out at Ravi Road near fruit and vegetable market.

Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) Chief Officer Iqbal Fareed, Metropolitan Officer (Infrastructure) Muhammad Saqib and other officers were also present on the occasion. The ADCG inspected the pace of work and directed the contractors to complete city roads on time. A total of 414 development projects are underway in the city on the instructions of the caretaker government. He directed the MO Infrastructure to ensure regular visits of sub-engineer concerned while instructed the project supervisor to complete the task before time. All zonal officers, district officers and Assistant Commissioners (ACs) had been directed by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rafia Haider to monitor each rehabilitation project of the city daily.

21,000kg unhygienic meat discarded

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Monday stopped the production of six meat shops by imposing emergency prohibition orders (EPOs). On the directives of PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid, meat safety teams examined 1,329 meat shops across the province and discarded 21,000kg unhygienic meat. The PFA teams imposed hefty fines on 177 butchers during the province-wide meat inspection drive besides issuing warning notices for improvement to 1,050 meat outlets. The PFA teams registered cases against owners of six meat shops. In the city, the PFA DG led the operation to check the performance of field teams.

On the occasion, the DG said the PFA barred the production of six meat shops by imposing emergency prohibition orders (EPOs) after recovering the unhygienic meat of sick animals during different raids.
